Genius Sports and Hungry Jack and NBL Renew Partnership Deal

Sports data and digital content leader Genius Sports Group (GSG) announced Thursday the renewal of a long-term data technology agreement with Australia's Hungry Jack National Basketball League (NBL) .

"With the 2021 season underway and the road to the NBA growing in reputation, we are excited to expand our data partnership with the NBL."

GSG and NBL became partners 5 years ago

GSG has been working with the NBL since 2015. , Aiming to improve the digital basketball ecosystem through the league, which in that time has become one of the top basketball leagues in the world outside the National Basketball League (NBA) .

"We are pleased to extend our partnership with Genius Sports Group, which has been a great partner to the NBL for many years. The NBL continues to expand its digital reach around the world and this has been one of the fastest growing parts of our business as a global league. "

Brad Joyner, CCO, NBL

Over the past 5 years, the NBL has consistently increased attendance and grown its broadcast and global digital audience, and the introduction of the NBL's Next Stars program has allowed the league to become a viable path to the NBA.

The NBL produced the No. 3 pick in last year's NBA Draft LaMelo Ball, who joined the Charlotte Hornets and has since shown his potential.

Collection and distribution of data

The extension of the long-term partnership between GSG and the NBL will include live team and player statistics data collected by professional basketball's premier live data capture tool, FIBA LiveStats , to power the league's official website, as well as live streaming, fantasy sports products and other ways to engage sports fans around the world.

The long-standing partnership between GSG and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has resulted in FIBA Organizer , a CMS tool that will continue to automate and manage the NBL season.

"We believe the NBL's commitment to putting official data at the center of their entire digital offering has been key to their rapid growth in recent years, setting a precedent for basketball leagues and federations around the world." Thomas Klingebiel, commercial director, APAC, Genius Sports Group

As part of the renewed agreement and in an effort to expand the reach of the NBL, GSG has acquired non-exclusive rights to capture official live data from the NBL and distribute it for bookmaking purposes to bookmakers around the world.

The contract extension with the NBL is the data technology group's latest effort to establish long-term sports partnerships, following the signing of an agreement with the American Hockey League (AHL) last December and an exclusive data agreement with the Superstar Racing Experience ( SRX) earlier this month.
