Iowa: Prairie Meadow Casino expands mitigation measures
Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack and Hotel in Iowa today announced an extension of stringent mitigation measures designed to slow the further spread of coronavirus in the state. The extension will be valid until 31 December 2020.
The casino and racetrack operator has issued an extensive list of measures put in place to prevent transmission of the virus at the venue and as part of its initiative to contain the outbreak.
"It is our collective responsibility to mitigate and contain this virus for the safety and well-being of our employees, customers and the community in which we serve."
Gary Palmer, President and CEO of Prairie Meadows
Smoking prohibited, masks compulsory
To optimize personal safety, the game room will continue to temporarily suspend all forms of smoking for both guests and employees to ensure that masks are worn properly most of the time.
The wearing of a face mask is mandatory at all times; therefore, the facility has limited the number of entrances to the facility to allow staff to monitor the admission process to ensure that everyone has proper face covering when entering the facility. Face mask substitutes such as face shields, neck protectors and masks with vents will not be permitted on the premises.
Eating only in designated places
Food consumption will only be permitted in designated areas: AJ's Steakhouse, Finish Line Show Lounge tables, Paddock Grill & Deli, including a nearby two-story lounge area. As proclaimed by the governor, the property's food and beverage sales will end at 22:00 until further notice.
Air ventilation and decontamination of property
The casino and racetrack will implement improved ventilation and air disinfection procedures to reduce the risk of viral droplets surviving longer and infecting others. A full air exchange will occur every 15 minutes through the use of a two-stage filtration process with antimicrobial treatment, while a rigorous cleaning schedule will be used to disinfect the property with high-quality disinfectants and electrostatic sprays.
"Our vigilance will now ensure we are even more successful when it is safer to resume normal full-scale operations. I am truly grateful for the patience and flexibility that both our team and customers have given us during this critical time."
Gary Palmer, President and CEO of Prairie Meadows
