The Princes Cruises has revealed its Ocean Sportsbook , a new real-time sports betting platform that is now available on MedallionClass ships and which will sail the seven seas offering advanced betting solutions.

The company is taking the riverboat concept and expanding it to provide travelers who have a weakness for sports betting with a variety of betting markets, including basketball, baseball, hockey and various college sports, choosing from domestic and international markets.

Ocean Sportsbook is compliant with national regulations and its services may be restricted or suspended depending on where any of the ships it is on drop anchor. Betting will be allowed prior to the game and in real-time through a dedicated app.

Commenting on the development, Princess Cruises CEO Jan Swartz added: "On Princess MedallionClass cruises, our guests can stay in touch with their friends and family around the world, and now with Ocean Sportsbook they can also stay in touch with their favorite teams and Bet on various events while sailing with us."

Going on a cruise would no longer mean having to disconnect travelers, Swartz asserted, as the company explores the possibility of bringing a new form of entertainment on board. As sports betting in the United States has already reached $20 billion in the past two years, the market is expected to reach $155 billion by 2024, according to ESPN and a market study conducted in 2019.

Regulated sports betting on the high seas

If this figure is true, it exceeds the allegedly $ 150 billion plotted offshore. The company works with experienced programmers to bring Miomni Ocean Sports to the entire Princess Cruises' fleet of MedallionClass ships starting in 2021.

Princess has already invested in Ocean Casino, iGaming and a personal experience aboard their ship, providing access to roulette, bingo, keno, slots, poker, blackjack, lottery and more.

The company has sought to further enhance the experience with the introduction of OceanMedallion wearables, which allow guests to stay in touch with everything that is happening on board the ship.

Ocean Sportsbook is part of this direction to enhance the guest experience.
