Man accused of sexual assault at Las Vegas Strip Casino

And a 43-year-old Michigan man is scheduled to stand trial this fall on charges of sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Frank Anthony Ruggirello of Clinton, Michigan was arrested Tuesday. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas court on Sept. 16 for a preliminary hearing, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal .
On Monday night, a security officer at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino called the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department about a potential assault. A woman staying at the hotel told a lifeguard at the pool that she had been sexually abused. The MGM Grand is a green resort on the southeast end of the Strip near McCarran International Airport.
When police arrived, the woman said she was traveling to Las Vegas with Ruggirello. They shared a room. The two went out for dinner, drinks and a show. When she returned to the room, she woke up and saw him attacking her, the newspaper reported.
Ruggirello told authorities that he and the woman had been drinking for most of the day. He said he had consensual sex with the woman. He denied assaulting her, according to the newspaper.
Records show that a complaint against Ruggirello was filed Thursday in Las Vegas Justice Court, A journal has been reported . He is listed as poor.
MGM Grand is outside the city limits, but the combined city and county police department, known locally as Metro, responds to calls on the Strip.

An increase in violent crime on the Strip and nearby tourist areas last year prompted Metro to start fighting crime. The Nevada Highway Patrol assisted in the program, which authorities described as "Operation Persistent Pressure." Police said most of the violence last year could be attributed to out-of-town gangs and visitors.
This spike in violence came after Governor Steve Sisolak (DE) allowed casinos to reopen on June 4 after an 11-week, pandemic-related shutdown.
This year, assaults and other violent crimes on the Strip have resulted in injuries and arrests.
One high-profile recent case involved a man accused of raping a woman at the Luxor Hotel and Casino on the day he was to be married in Las Vegas.

Stolen expensive watches
Another recent case that drew attention involved a 23-year-old woman accused of drugging men she met at casinos on the Strip and stealing their luxury watches. Windy Rose Jones of Las Vegas was arrested twice in those cases.
In the latest incident, police said they met a man at Wynn Las Vegas on the Strip one morning and left with him to go to a nearby water pipe lounge. He later woke up in the service area at the Venetian Resort. His $ 45, 000 Rolex was missing. He told authorities he thought he was under the influence of drugs.
Similar incidents occurred with two men at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on different occasions. Both men said they thought they had been drugged. Both were missing expensive watches.
