Resorts World Las Vegas clears first licensing hurdle

The Nevada Gaming Control Board this week recommended approval of Resorts World Las Vegas for licensing.
The board on Wednesday unanimously recommended licensing a $4.3 billion hotel-casino under construction on the Las Vegas Strip. The license approval goes to the Nevada Gaming Commission on May 20 for final consideration.
Board member Phil Katsaros said he was impressed with the Resorts World television commercial that aired during the Academy Awards on ABC in April. Katsaros recently visited the resort, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal .
"They knocked my socks off," Katsaros said. "And the commercial you produced, the marketing department knocked it out of the park."
30 - The second "Stay Fabulous" commercial features performers Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Tiësto and Zedd. These performers are expected to appear at the resort when it opens on June 24.
Alana Litavis, vice president of marketing for Resorts World, said the ad was intended to "Vegas-ize the brand and make it stand out," according to Adweek .
"We wanted to integrate celebrities into the real estate story ", Litavis said.
Board member Brittnie Watkins said she was impressed by the ad, according to the Review-Journal. Wednesday's meeting was her first as a board member.

The ad sparked a barrage of comments on KLAS-TV YouTube channel.
One viewer was identified as writing "Welcome to the Mlife": "Looking forward to Resorts World but what a bizarre advert.
Another viewer named "Lisa Bailey" wrote: "Look out World !!! Katy Perry is coming to Vegas !!! Time to wake up in Vegas and see some action !!! I will definitely be there !!! "
Resort amenities
3, 506 - hotel room -casino is located on the northwest corner of the Strip where the Stardust Casino once stood, near Circus Circus.
Resorts World will be a smoking restricted facility where smoking will be banned everywhere except the game room according to Resorts World president Scott Sibella.
The resort will have more than 40 eateries, including a vegan ice cream shop in Los Angeles and Taiwanese bubble tea shop Tiger Sugar.
The hotel portion of Resorts World will have three Hilton-branded options. Each will have separate entrances and lounges. Hotel guests can participate in the Hilton Honors rewards program.
Loyalty points from games, shopping and restaurants can be earned with Genting Rewards. This loyalty program is available from the property owner, Malaysia-based Genting Group.
Resorts World will also have the largest pool deck in Las Vegas and the only infinity pool on the Strip.
The property will also partner with Gemini, a cryptocurrency exchange. The newspaper reported that it will allow guests to use Gemini's cryptocurrency wallet at the resort.
Las Vegas Strip Revival
Resorts World is the first hotel-casino to open on the Strip since the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas opened in December 2010. The Cosmopolitan is located on the west side of the Strip near the Bellagio.
Resorts World is part of a revival on the Strip and nearby tourist areas. As part of that revival, a sports arena and a non-gaming hotel and entertainment complex are planned for 27 vacant acres on the northeast corner of the Strip near Sahara Las Vegas.
In addition, a retail and restaurant complex is proposed on the west side of the Strip at CityCenter, near where the Tower of Pizza once stood.
